Strategies for design reuse in the supply industry

For the probject described in this paper 40 product components design ed and manufactured by supply comanies were analysed. By looking at each compoent's customisation process different strategies for design reuse and plaftform variation in the s upply industry were identified. These were shown th be related to each component's contribution to the technical and visual function of the final product and to the core competence and design strategy of the customer.
