The refractory brick lining in a lime recovery kiln is a critical element to overall kiln reliability and uptime. Refractory life is influenced by installation practices, kiln design and condition, refractory technology, and other operational factors. This paper provides kiln owners and operators installation best practices to monitor installations, identify abnormal wear mechanisms, and troubleshoot potential refractory brick problems.
