Intelligent cameras with targeted applications for pulp process improve profitability and operational safety of pulp drying and packaging lines. Intelligent web monitoring cameras provide instantaneous information about visible process problems as they occur. Intelligent dirt count system counts TAPPI standard dirt from pulp sheet on the dryer providing 100% coverage under the cameras. Defect detection cameras can be used for larger dirt and other defect detection such as oil spots or debris. Finally, when the pulp bales are being wrapped and tied intelligent cameras can inspect the wire twist of each wire and give an alarm of bad twists for individual bales and transportation units. Making sure that all wire twists are good will prevent wires from becoming loose and potentially causing damage to the product, production equipment or personnel. All these applications made with intelligent cameras will only require a single server to tie the information together and present it to the operators.
