To maximize the production and enhanced total recovery ofrnhydrocarbons, the oil companies must have a completernunderstanding of the reservoir rocks and fluids present in theirrnproducing fields.rnThe measurement of rock properties enables us to determinernits ability to allow fluids to flow and understand the way thesernfluids will behave when the reservoir is produced. Thisrninformation provides the starting point to conduct arnFormation Damage Analysis that will lead to an appropriaterndiagnosis in order to select the best solution. It will providerndetailed explanation to the problems that well and productionrnhave and will offer basis and support to the stimulationrntreatment investigation and its effects.rnThe Formation Damage is any mechanical, chemical,rnbiological or thermal process in a reservoir that causes arnreduction in porosity and permeability.rnAlmost all the field operations constitute a potential source ofrndamage for the well productivity that often results in reducedrnproductivity of oil or gas reservoirs or reduces injectivity ofrninjection wells, on a secondary recovery,rnThis paper is an attempt to supply a preparatory methodologyrnto enable the potential risks of formation damage evaluation,rntrying to correlate the results in a laboratory scale with thernfield test.rnThe laboratory diagnosis, usually preliminary for stimulation,rnhelp auspiciously to avoid or decrease the risk of damage.rnThe study and control of formation damage requires a testrndesign consistent with the feasibility of the operatives optionsrnand involves properties such as the knowledge of geologicalrnand petrophisics of the formation to be stimulated, fluidsrncompatibility, operative procedures, etc.
