The increases of air temperature in Thailand due to global warming situation have strongly induced the emission of air pollutants and odor from general livestock farms including chicken-egg farms.This study focused on the chicken-egg farm management in Northern Thailand,where the waste discharge and NH3 emission in housing leads to severe odor problem.In addition,high temperatures in open housing(nonevaporative system)induced an increasing in CO2 and NH3 concentration because the high temperatures caused increase in respiratory rate of chickens.The enhancement in CO2 concentration was significantly higher in the higher temperature area of the housing than in the lower temperature areas.However,the results of NH3 concentrations were not significant.In the house equipped with evaporative cooling system air temperatures were lower than in the open housing and within this system the CO2 and NH3 concentrations were lower than in the open housing.The survey results showed that most chicken-egg farm owners in Northern Thailand have been using the evaporative cooling system for air pollutants and waste mitigation instead open housing system.In conclusion,the evaporative cooling system could mitigate the problem of high CO2 and NH3 concentration and odor problem in chicken-egg farms associated with high temperatures.
