摘要

Validation of complex three-dimensional mathematical models for use in predicting dispersion of LNG vapor has traditionally relied upon field experiments involving large spills of LNG. However, in addition to being very expensive, such experiments have often produced inadequate data for model validation because of limited instrumentation, fluctuations in ambient conditions, measurement errors, and other factors that are difficult to control in the field. As a result, development and execution of carefully instrumented and controlled laboratory experiments incorporating relevant fluid dynamics has appeal.
