The main objective of a nuclear regulatory body is to ensure that the nuclear energyrnapplications fulfill the aspect of safety, security and safeguards to protect people and thernenvironment from hazards associated with nuclear facilities or nuclear materials. Therefore,rnstaff competencies of the regulatory body are essential and should be maintained. Therncontinued control of nuclear facilities is needed. In addition, the retirement age of thernemployees should be calculated as part of human resource planning. In this context, knowledgernmanagement has a major role in transferring knowledge to ensure that nuclear energy and itsrnassociated technologies can be used safely and that society has greater confidence and trust inrnthe regulator. The nuclear industry can then be assured that it is being regulated competentlyrnand fairly.
