DATA LOGGER DEVICE FOR USAGE ENVIRONMENT OF MOBILE PHONES

The usage environment can have a significant impact on the reliability of portable electronicrnproducts. One of the basis for actual design-for-reliability (DFR) engineering is that real environmentalrnloads due to the usage environment of the product are known in proper physical terms. When it comes tornsuch consumer products as portable phones, it is also vital to have solid statistical data on the actualrnusers and usage of phones. A miniature data logger was developed for this purpose. The logger isrnequipped with sensors to gather data on temperature, relative humidity, and mechanical shocks. Thernproblems related to the design and application of such devices are discussed, and one workable designrnand solution is presented.
