摘要

This paper summarises the main results and conclusionsrnof the Earth Observation for Cryosphere SciencernConference organised jointly by the European SpacernAgency (ESA), the Climate and Cryosphere projectrn(CliC) of the World Climate Research Programmern(WCRP) and the European Geosciences Union (EGU).rnThe meeting, hosted at the ESRIN facilities of ESA, inrnNovember 2012, involved more than 200 scientists overrn30 countries and addressed the latest advances andrnscientific developments in the use of Earth observationrntechnology to observe, monitor and predict the differentrncomponents and processes governing the cryospherernand reviewed the related applications. This paperrnsummarises the main results of the discussions andrnprovides guidance for future research and therndevelopment of activities in this fascinating scientificrnarea.
