Urban area extents have been recently obtained for thernwhole China by means of optical and SAR data sets.rnGenerally speaking, these two independently designedrnextraction methodology provide a very similar picturernof the urbanization in this country, by exploitingrnmultispectral and radar data sets. A quantitativerncomparison of the two data sets highlights the differencernand the synergies between the two urban extent maps, tornbe exploited both for multitemporal analyses and forrnfusion approaches to further improve the accuracy of thernurbanization mapping results.
