The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC) is responsiblernfor conveying and treating an average of 192 million gallons per day (MGD) ofrnwastewater and it operates seven major treatment plants in Hamilton County. The MillrnCreek WWTP – the largest wastewater treatment facility operated by MSDGC – as partrnof this plan, is currently undergoing upgrades to provide secondary treatment (BOD andrnTSS removal only) for up to 910,000 m~3/d (240 MGD). This paper presents how MSDGCrnhas used unit process optimization and a novel approach to indicator detection to controlrndosage and disinfection costs.
