The Atmosphere Detritiation System (ADS) of the Pilot Plant for Tritium and Deuterium Separation is necessary because of the safety requirements for nuclear installation and aims containing and purification of air contaminated with deuterium and tritium released in case of accident, to avoid the danger of such effluents discharge into the atmosphere. By processing the tritiated heavy water results two radioactive effluents, namely: 1. tritiated heavy water in vapor and liquid phase, containing deuterium and tritium, 2. hydrogen gas, containing deuterium and tritium. When accident occur and tritiated heavy water vapors or tritium gas are released in the working place atmosphere the contaminated air is cleaned by oxidizing tritium in a catalytic reactor and collecting the resulted heavy water vapors by condensation in a drainage tank. The paper explores the possibilities of achieving these objectives and proposes the optimized solution to reduce energy consumption and environmental protection.
