Current Issues with Shipment and Disposal of Large Activity Radiation Sources

In the life cycle of sources and irradiators, from initial installation to ultimate disposal, there are still several steps that need better solutions. A final disposal path for sources, especially Cs-137, must be implemented. The shipment of sources must be done in a safe and secure manner, but also at a price that makes economic sense.
