Timing analysis must be performed for safetycriticalrnreal-time tasks to estimate their Worst-Case ExecutionrnTime (WCET). The advent of multicores and cache hierarchiesrnchallenges the use of traditional measurement-based timingrnanalysis (MBTA), which is current practice in industry. Torntackle this issue a new family of timing analysis techniquesrnbased on probabilistic analysis has recently arised. Among those,rnMeasurement-Based Probabilistic Timing Analysis (MBPTA) isrnthe most promising approach, but imposes some constraints onrnthe hardware design.rnIn this paper we analyze the case of a LEON3 multicorernprocessor, identify those features that need to be modified to attainrnMBPTA compliance and show the first steps towards achieving it.rnOur preliminary results show that (i) low WCET estimates canrnbe derived, (ii) industrial practice based on measurements can bernkept, and (iii) average performance is only slightly harmed w.r.t.rnnon-MBPTA-compliant hardware designs.
