The paper describes the development currently on goingrnin Thales Alenia Space Italia of a Multi-Head AttitudernDetermination System (MH-ADS) The activityrncurrently in progress is the evolution of the existingrnsystem and takes advantage from the newrnmicroprocessor’s features, specifically the LEON3rnhardware and software environment. The baselinernconfiguration foresees the usage of a central processorrnwith the performances of a LEON3 microprocessor andrna single Optical Head (OH) breadboard produced byrnGalileo Avionica and derived from the Vision BasedrnNavigation Camera (VBNC). The OH design includesrnan Active Pixel Sensor (APS) detector and optics. Thernmissing OH’s are implemented through specificrnsoftware models. This configuration allows testing ofrnLEON based attitude determination system in differentrnconfigurations either fully simulated OHs or using onernor more real OHs in the loop. The OH breadboard canrnbe electrically stimulated through a dedicated EGSErnidentified as Electrical Stimuli Generator (ESG).
