摘要

The aim of this study was to investigate theeffect of temperature on drug permeationthrough a thermotropic liquid crystal embeddedpolymeric membrane. The triple layermembrane was composed of n-pentylcyanobiphenyl, as the thermotropic liquidcrystal, sandwiched between two layers ofcellulose nitrate films. It was shown that thetransport of methimazole, as a low molecularweight drug model, through this system wasmarkedly higher at temperatures above thephase transition temperature (36.7℃) of thethermotropic liquid crystal. The release ratefollowed zero order kinetics and was reversible.
