In China, environmental pollution caused by emissions from coal-fired power plant is getting worse. For reduction this environmental pollution, gas turbine (GT) generation system firing natural gas (NG) is effective. Plans such as construction of new combined cycle power plant (CCPP) system using GT and renovation of the existing old power plant to CCPP system are becoming common. And especially the renovation of old power plant to CCPP is more economical and practical than construction of new CCPP. In this renovation scheme, existing boiler(s) are dismantled and new GT(s) coupled with heat recovery steam generator (HRSG)(s) are installed to combine with existing steam turbine (ST)(s). It is suitable to apply a compact size 25,000 kW class GT (H-25) for installing GTs in existing power plant with great flexibility. As a result of feasibility study for the renovation of old power plant to CCPP, higher overall plant thermal efficiency, increased of total electrical output, lower CO_2 and NO_x emissions and large effect are confirmed.
