摘要

The transportation of hazardous materials (HAZMAT) is a growing problemrnworldwide due to increasing transportation volumes. In this paper, the problems ofrnrisk assessment methods and the characteristics of hazmat vehicles are discussed.rnThis research is based on a case study in Shenzhen, China. The operation data isrnacquired with global positioning system (GPS) data acquisition technology. Therncharacteristics of hazmat transportation are obtained through analyzing the vehiclernoperation characteristics changing by time and space, and the relationship betweenrnthe hazmat transportation route and urban transportation system. With thernconclusions above, the paper gives some advice to support the Government’srndecision-making about the assessment of the transport risk for hazmat and thernplanning of the hazmat transportation.
