摘要

Notwithstanding the well documented shortcomings of Robinson's Rule, engineers are reluctant to forego the convenience of the approach of a simple damage summation law. The same COntinuum Damage Model has been used to determine the range of changes in service stress and temperature within which Robinson's Rule can be considered to provide a prescribed level of accuracy. The results are represented on a simple diagram in stress and temperature space as contours of constant error along with the expected variation in operating conditions.
