The measurement of electrochemical characteristics of the biofilm battery composed of a biofilm-covered stainless steel cathode and bare aluminum anode was carried out in natural seawater. From the experimental results, it was found that the durability of the battery was at least 2 hours at 100ft load, and two peaks in power density of 2.8μW/cm~2 around both 0.2 and 0.7V cell voltage appeared. The later peak which did not appear for the bare cathode was considered due to the activity of the biofilm microorganisms.
