摘要

Zinc phthalocyanine tetrasulphonated(ZnPcSO4) is a promising second generationphotosensitizer for use in photodynamic therapy(PDT) of tumors, due to its high selectivity of tumortargeting and the high efficiency ofphotogeneration of citotoxic singlet oxygen.However, due to its physicochemical properties,ZnPcSO4 presents limited penetration into the skin.In this work, cubic and lamellar phases ofmonoolein/water were proposed as deliverysystem for this photosensitizer. In vitro and in vivoskin permeation/retention studies showed thatthese systems increased the ZnPcSO4 skinretention, mainly in the stratum corneum (SC),which can be crucial for the success of the topicalin PDT of skin cancer using this photosensitizer.
