'A computer simulation of the construction of the Alamillo bridge in Seville, Spain'

Dragados y Construccciones of Spain has been at the forefront of advances in the modularization of construction operations. This paper dicusses the analysis of various alternatives associated with the construction of the Alamillo bridge built in conjunction with the Expo '92 held in Barcelona, Spain. The structure is very unique and Dragados was forced to use a method of erection which differed from that originally envisioned by the designer. This paper demonstrates how improved productivity and efficiency can be achieved by evaluating various trade-offs prior to commencement of construction using computer simulation.
