The project's aim is to renovate a district made up of individual housing units into small units of collective housing, which means a change of scale and therefore a redrawing of land. The principle of plot grouping means that we can proceed by steps, taking into account the plots which have been free, and the desires of the inhabitants. This means drawing up basic land entities which have a minimum surface area below which it would not be possible to go because of density. By using the existing network as a means of reference, we can gauge when the houses will be free in order to proceed step by step and thus carry out the project. This is another way of assuring continuity of the existant context. This way suppose to discuss if courtyard houses, as a type, are out of date. If yes, how to definit a new type and what are the elements of continuity with existing network and with Chinese urban culture ?
