Ultrafast Optical TDM Transmission with the use of Femtosecond Pulses

With the vast growth of traffic on the Internet from simple text data to high quality voice, images, and real-time video, ii has become increasingly important to realize a high-speed network to support the daily needs of modern communications. We have recently succeeded in transmitting a 1.28 Tbit/s OTDM signal over 70 km with the adoption of third- and fourth-order simultaneous dispersion compensation. In this talk, key technologies for ultrahigh-speed Of DM transmission which exceeds 1 Tbit/s are described.
