Human Health Risk Assessment for Dioxins and Related Compounds

摘要

The aim of this paper is oriented to critically analyze the current scientific literature related to health effects of dioxins and related compounds in order to identify issues concerning the risks that may be occurring in the population exposed to these dangerous substances. Hence, the paper describes the process to develop Risk Assessment step by step considering the definition of dioxin like compounds, the estimation of their exposure/dose relationship, the characterization of sources and exposure, environmental fate and transport modelling, human exposure modelling and finally risk characterization. Lastly a risk evaluation at the concentration of "screening value" of TEQ for residential soil (ATSDR, 1998a) has been performed and critically considered.
