ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN OIL/GAS FIELD'S DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION IN CHINA

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is national oil and gas company which ' is responsible for oil and natural gas exploration and development in land and coastal areas (no more than 5 meters deep). In order to protect the environment in oil/gas fields' development and production efficiently, CNPC carries out the guideline that "environment protection is one of China's basic national policies" ; keeps up environmental protection close with oil/gas exploration and protection; strictly follows environment impact assessment and the national "3-simultaneously" policy for all petroleum engineering projects , that is pollution control facility which must be designed , constructed and put into effect with the main facility of the project simultaneously; depends on improvement of science and technology to spread "cleaner production", invests in pollution treatment, develops comprehensive utilization, lessens the harm of pollution as possible, and protects the ecosystem in oil/gas production area.
