Analysis of Vibration Error in Fiber Optic Gyroscope

As compared with all kinds of traditional mechanical gyros, FOG demonstrates some promising characteristics, such as vibration-proof, shock-proof and etc. But, in engineering applications, vibration is one of the potential error causes which lead to parasitic effects related to transient phenomena. This paper presents a theoretical discussion on the main causes of vibration error, and then simulations are conducted. Based on the analysis and simulation, some measures to improve the dynamic performance of FOG are proposed and the effect is verified by tests. The test results show that the dynamic error of the improved FOG is greatly decreased.
