PURPOSE: An optical fiber gyro device and a method for compensating an output error of an excessive state caused by the temperature perturbation thereof, a method for calculating a compensation value of the output error of the excessive state caused by the temperature perturbation of the optical fiber gyro device are provided to predict a phase error of the optical fiber gyro device of the excessive state caused by a Shupe effect by using temperature dependence related to thermal properties of an optical fiber loop experimentally confirmed by the optical fiber loop. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber gyro device (10) includes an optical unit (13), an optical fiber loop (14), a detecting unit (14), a closed circuit control unit (16), a sensor unit (18), and a compensation unit (17). The optical unit divides the lights emitted by a light source (11) into first and second lights. The optical fiber loop guides the first and second lights clockwise and counterclockwise. The detecting unit detects coherent signals corresponding to the first and second lights. The closed circuit control unit applies phase modulation signals to the light so that phases of the lights emitted by the light source are modulated. The closed circuit control unit outputs rotation information by receiving the coherent signals outputted by the detecting unit and controls the light phase modulation signals in order to recover the initial state of the coherent signals. In the initial state of the coherent signals, the light phase difference between the first and second lights is not generated.
