Textile teinforced concrete (TRC) is a new composite material consisting of a high strength fine grained cementitious matrix and a grid of technical textiles. The high amount of heterogeneity with overlapping length-scales of both the matrix and the textile leads to complex interactions of the fundamental failure mechanisms. A discrete crack approach is proposed for investigating the local damage effects in TRC in order to capture the strong influence of the crack direction on the effective strength of the textile. We describe the experimental and modeling methods applied for identifying discontinuities in both the material interface and the concrete matrix. The coupling of the numerical model and experimental results by controlling the simulation with measured displacement fields allows us to simulate the local damage in the crack bridges. Finally we provide a verification example.
