Invited lecture: Japanese advanced technologies of heat exchanger in air-conditioning and refrigeration applications

The Japanese advanced technologies of the air-cooled heat exchangers installed into the air-conditioning machines are introduced. With respect to the fin side technologies, the unique "bow shape heat exchanger" for the indoor unit of the residential air-conditioning machines has been developed, and also the computational simulation program to predict the heat exchanger performance have been proposed. The problems of the alternative refrigerants have enhanced the development of the revolutional heat transfer tubes, the herringbone tube and the new-type micro-fin tubes. Both of them show the excellent performances compared to the conventional inner grooved tube.
