The establishing of geodetic network of Latvia began in 1992. National Geodetic Network consists of 44 first-order points, 4 of which (Arajs, Indra, Kangari and Riga) are points of European reference system EUREF of class C since 1992, when during the international measurement campaign EUREF BAL'92 measurements were made in the above-mentioned four points of the zero class network. The (Class 2 or G2) National Geodetic Network consists of 673 points second order and densification (Class 3 or G3) National Geodetic Network consists of almost 4000 points. Points of second order and densification geodetic network are calculated based on points of geodetic network of higher class - mean standard deviations for points of class G1 in direction of coordinate axes do not exceed 20 mm, points of class G2 relatively to points of class Gl 25 mm, but points of class G3 relatively to points of higher classes 30 mm.
