A model of radar imaging of ocean phenomena isrnproposed. This model is an extension of the backgroundrnNRCS model [7] in the case of non-uniform medium.rnRadar scattering component takes into account Braggrnand non-Bragg (specular reflections and the impact ofrnwave breaking) scattering mechanisms. Varying surfacerncurrent, surface temperature (stability effects), andrnsurfactants are the main sources of medium nonuniformities.rnTransformation of wave spectrum andrnwave breaking in non-uniform medium is described inrnthe relaxation approximation. Model calculations arerncompared with field observations. An overall goodrnagreement is obtained. It is shown that wave breakingrnplay important role in the formation of radar signaturesrnof ocean phenomena.
