摘要

The METHANE de-NOX (MdN) reburning process is a NOx reduction technology for solid fuel-fired stoker boilers that reduces NOx emissions by up to 70% and provides improvements in boiler efficiency and operation. This paper discusses the development and demonstration of the technology to date, including demonstrations of NO_x reduction and combustion improvement on municipal solid waste-fired and coal-fired boilers, and three projects under the U.S. DOE's Agenda 2020 program demonstrating the technology on woodwaste-fired stokers. R&D Magazine awarded MdN the prestigious R&D 100 Award in 1997 for it's environmental and performance potential. Japan's Environmental Agency recognized the technology with an Environmental Prize, and the process received the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) Environmental and Energy Achievement Award in 1999.
