This study carries out a three-dimensional vibration control research of high tech facilities equipped with intelligent platform subject to three-dimensional ground motions induced by earthquake and road traffic. To protect precise high tech equipment, which is traditionally installed directly on the floor of a high tech facility, an intelligent three-dimensional platform on which high tech equipment is installed is designed firstly as a passive platform mounted on the building floor through a series of passive control devices to abate mainly earthquake-induced absolute acceleration response. Hydraulic actuators are then installed between the passive platform and building floor to form an intelligent platform against microvibration induced by road traffic. A local-feedback control algorithm is attempted from a practical point of view to simply manipulate the control forces, and the effectiveness of this algorithm is discussed. A typical three-story high tech building is finally selected as a case study which shows that in the three-dimensional form, the use of intelligent platform can ensure the functionality of the equipment against microvibration and protect high tech equipment from damage when an earthquake occurs.
