Introduction of the Standardization in VTS Data Exchange

VTS systems have played an important role in maritime safety and are expected to be a core element in the e-navigation era However, the communication protocols as well as the data exchange format between VTS systems are not standardized yet,which result in the difficulties in system extension and/or compatibility. In this paper, the standardization of data exchange format and communication protocols in VTS systems in Korea is proposed, and the operation of the implemented system based on the proposed standardization is introduced.
