Corrosion coupon test and surface XPS analysis were adopted to study the corrosion behavior of odorant tetrahydrothiophene(THT) to the materials of natural gas pipeline net and the relation between corrosion and adsorption on carbon steel surface. Results show that carbon steel, brass, copper, aluminum, PE, PVC and asbestos are basically corrosion resistant in THT rich natural gas (THT lg/m~3). Carbon steel, brass, copper and aluminum are corrosion resistant in THT-containing petroleum ether (THT 400X10~(-6) g/cm~3), while the corrosion resistance of PVC is comparatively low in this solution. In pure THT, copper and PVC are not corrosion resistant and carbon steel is also rusted. Results also explore that a large amount of THT firmly adsorbs. on carbon steel as long as carbon steel specimens are rusted in high concentration of THT-petroleum ether solution. If the concentration of THT-petroleum ether solution is lower than 1500X10~(-6) g/cm~3, Carbon Steel is not rusted and specific adsorption does not occur. That means that if rusting happens to natural gas pipeline of Carbon Steel, it is possible to cause the consumption loss of THT. This should be taken into consideration for determining odorization amount of THT.
