In this study, C.I. Basic Violet 3 was chosen as the model contaminant and its degradation efficiency in heterogeneous catalytic ozonation reaction systems was investigated. The effects of operating conditions on degradation efficiency were also investigated. The results show that: heterogeneous catalytic ozonation can remove C.I.Basic Violet 3 more effective than ozonation alone. The removal rate of C.I. Basic Violet 3 increases with the increase of ozone gas flow rate, however, the removal rate decreased with the increasing initial dye concentration, temperature has little effect on the removal rate; the doses of catalyst have a appropriate value. The UV-vis spectra indicate that the chromophore and aromatic fragment was almost absolutely destroyed in the process of heterogeneous catalytic ozonation.
