摘要

In this paper, a cost-effective material, Zeolite-C was investigated to be used in desalination. FTIR, BET and XRD were used for the characterization of the adsorbate .Based on the batch tests, Zeolite-C demonstrated a good capacity and high selectivity of Ca 2+ . The maximum capacity is 94 mg/g. Kinetics of exchange processes were analyzed in accordance with the existing models, Pseudo-second-order model described well the sorption kinetic in comparison to pseudo-first-order and intra-particle diffusion kinetic model. Analyses have shown that chemical exchange is possible rate-determining step of the exchange process.
