Delayed or missed connecting flights are experiencesshared by anyone who has ever travelled.The impacts of air traffic delay lead to a significantfinancial burden on both the economicaland environmental aspects of airlines. Numeroussources estimate that delay costs reach up to severalbillion dollars each year. These additionalcosts vary according to the business model, thephase of flight where the delay occurs (e.g. airborneor ground delay) or the fleet, in particular.This paper intends to point out the potential benefitfor airlines that arises if ground or airbornedelays could be reduced.
