ESTIMATION OF SHEAR-LAYER WIDTHS IN A COMPOUND CHANNEL FLOW

摘要

By comparing shear-layer widths based on depth-averaged velocity and bed shearstress, it is shown that the shear-layer width in the main channel of a compoundchannel flow depends upon the indicator variable chosen. A methodology ispresented for calculating upper and lower bounds of the shear-layer width in achannel of finite width and applied to a compound duct flow.
