We have reported that surface supported early transition metal hydride complexes catalyze of a variety of carbon-carbon bond cleavage reactions under very moderate conditions of temperature and pressure. It is the high electrophilicity together with the coordinative unsaturation of these complexes that permits this remarkable reactivity, and stable complexes having these properties are easily synthesized by surface organometallic chemistry.rnFuture studies on these and related complexes will seek to discover new reactions, applications of known reaction, methods of catalyst regeneration, and new catalysts stable with respect to heteratom substituted substrates.
