Bridge monitoring system via information technology is capable of providingrnmore accurate knowledge about bridge performance characteristics comparing to the conventionalrnstrategies. This paper describes two issues. First an integrated internet monitoring systemrnis proposed consisting of a Stand-alone Monitoring System (SMS) and a Web-based InternetrnMonitoring System (IMS) for bridge maintenance. Second the application of SMS to the Para-rnStressing Bridge System (PSBS) as an intelligent structure is explained. The experimental resultsrndemonstrate that the implemented monitoring system supplies detailed and accurate informationrnabout bridge behavior for further evaluation and diagnosis, and it also opens up prospectsrnfor future application of web-based remote system to actual in-service bridges under fieldrnconditions.
