The current trend in railway technology is to develop high speed trains (withrnspeeds up to 350 km/h). The design codes must consider such high speeds. Especially, the riskrnof resonance must be investigated. Most of the actual design codes (for example the Eurocodes)rnprovide rules for the dynamic analysis and the design of railway bridges in ultimate limit statesrnand serviceability limit states including resonance effects, but only few general rules for thernfatigue verification in the case of high speed trains. The paper gives an overview of the fatiguernverification methods and additional rules included in the design codes of the Deutsche BahnrnAG.
