The effects of the filler metal and current on the microstructure and tensile properties of ferrite stainless steel joints brazed using a Cu base filler (Cu-Si or Cu-Al) were investigated and the conclusion can be drawn as follow. 1. In the case of joints brazed using the Cu-Si filler metal, the phases in the fusion zone were consisted of pure Cu of the matrix and the sphere Fe_3Si which is the primary crystal solidified from the liquid made up of the liquid filler and dissolved base metal. The reaction layers were (Fe,Cr)_3Si formed by the reaction between the base metal in the solid state and the liquid filler metal and the crystal orientation of the reaction layers was different from that of the base metal or the fusion zone in the filler metal.
