摘要

In order to improve the drawbacks of existing bricks, a new unburned Al_2O_3-MgO brick for steel ladle was developed. It has the following advantages: (1) New brick has good physical properties, positive permanent linear change and appropriate creep deformation to reduce the joint erosion and integrate the brick lining. (2) The corrosion and penetration resistances are excellent due to the secondary spinel forming reaction during operation. (3) The thermal conductivity is considerably lower compared to carbon containing bricks and reduces energy losses. (4) Carbon pick up into steel can be eliminated because new brick is completely carbon free.
