Situation and Future of Refractory Education in China

In the past 20 years, the GDP increasing ratio in China more than 9% on the average. Based on rapid growth of economy the steel consumption and production increase very fast. For example, in 2002 the consumption of steel products is about 200 million. The consumption and production of cement, glass, ceramics and non-ferrous metal increase rapidly too. On the other hand China is rich in raw materials of refractories, such as bauxite, magnesite and clay. The market potential and raw material richness make the opportunity to developing of refractory industry. On the contrary to many other countries in the world, refractory industry in China is expanding at present. With expanding of refractory industry the demand of engineers and technicians of refractory are increasing. In the 80's in the last century refractory industry expanded very fast but crudely. At the places rich in raw materials, such as in Gongyi city in Henan province hundreds of refractory companies were established. However in 90's last century many companies were closed because of failure in grievous competition. The victors during competition have understood the importance of science and technology, which gives an opportunity of refractory education in China. In previous article the general situation of refractory in China was mentioned. In this article I will state the present situation and estimation in near future.
