The influence of reaction piles used in the static axial pile load test on the load-settlement behaviour of the test pile was investigated through a series of parametric study using a simplified analytical method. Workable design charts were given for the value of the correction factor, F_c, for many cases of floating piles and end bearing piles embedded in semi-infinite soils, finite homogeneous soil layers and multi-layered soils. These charts may be applied to the measured settlement obtained from the test to estimate the true settlement of the influenced test pile. It was found that the value of F_c decreases as the pile spacing ratio increases, or as the pile-soil stiffness ratio decreases. Compared with the case of semi-infinite soils, the value of F_c becomes smaller for the case of finite homogeneous soil layers and multi-layered soils.
