Low Compression Set and Soft Low Friction TPVs for Automotive Sealing Applications

Mitsui Chemicals has been producing TPV, "Milastomer™", for 28 years. Due to its characteristics such as low compression set, low density, good processability and good durability, it has found various applications, e.g., automotive sealing, interior, exterior parts and others. In automotive sealing application, Mitsui Chemicals newly developed low compression set grades for substrate, and soft low friction grades for lips of sealing parts. Especially, the low compression set grades are superior in compression set at elevated temperature and in long term compared to sulfur cured EPDM And the soft low friction grades have very low friction coefficient, excellent abrasion resistance, and softness that cause no wrinkles when bent. High performance sealing parts are obtained by co-extrusion of the low compression s,et grade and soft low friction grade.
