Abstract: The paper is dedicated to theoretical treatment of laser beam propagation along vertical and elevated paths from the ground surface through all thickness of the atmosphere. The length of the propagation paths is proposed therewith to be far more than thickness of the distortion layer since the random distortions of the wave beam due to turbulent fluctuations of the air refractive index arise mainly in lower layers of the atmosphere. The mean intensity of laser beam as well as relative variance, and spatial and temporal correlation function of its intensity are considered. !15
