摘要

Medical Computed Tomography (CT) has been employed on high silica glass phenolic cylindrical liners with and without bonding to the aluminum casings for studying the various defects. The tomograms revealed delaminations, debonds, foreign inclusions and interply density variations. The linear attenuation coefficients in terms of Hounsfield Values (HU) have been measured, compared and correlated on CT images to identify and differentiate the contrasts observed. 3-D attenuation coefficients data has been generated from the 2-D images available. The image of any plane of interest can be generated from this data base. This enables the mapping of the extent of debonded/delaminated areas. The salient features of CT in assessing and analysing the above defects over other NDE techniques have been brought out.
